Somnex is an early stage startup that was founded in August 2024 with the vision of designing a next generation XR (Extended Reality) headset intended for practical use in hands on and advanced engineering design applications. The goal is to create a digital environment that connects more naturally with real-world workflows, increasing intrateam collaboration and supporting sustained focus.

In the long term, the project aims to change how people use digital tools by moving away from fragmented multitasking and toward a unified workspace. This involves integrating the hardware, software, and connectivity to better support deep work, communication, more intuitive visualization, and task management in professional settings.

Our proprietary lens system delivers a uniquely smooth and comfortable visual experience. Designed from the ground up, our system uses a proprietary connection between diffractive lenses and a metasurface, allowing the metasurface to correct any visual aberrations or irregularities that are caused by the lens while maintaining a sleek form factor and low weight which prioritizes user comfort. It’s a technical breakthrough that supports extended use, making Somnex ideal for real-world productivity.

Deep Integration Between Hardware and Software

We’re developing purpose-built software specifically for our hardware. Unlike other platforms, Somnex runs a tightly integrated software stack optimized for engineers—reducing latency, improving responsiveness, and supporting complex multitasking in 3D space. This deep vertical integration means fewer compatibility issues and a smoother, faster user experience.

Tailored Tools for Professional Use

Our focus is on industry application. Beyond offering core XR capabilities, we’re building custom professional tools—task managers, computer design software, spatial planning interfaces, and more—all designed for the unique strengths of digitally augmented environments.
